Add an agent

An agent takes three steps: who it is, what it does, and what it may work with. Your first agent also needs an instance to run on, and Boost.space cloud has one ready in about two minutes.

How do I add an agent?

  1. On Home, click New agent. You can also go to Settings > AgentOS > Agents and click New agent.
  2. Who it is. Pick a Colour and a Face: Roll the face for a new face and color, or Upload a photo (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 2 MB). Type a name of up to 24 characters and check Runs on. Click Next.
  3. What it does. Under What will <name> do?, describe the job in plain words, for example "Watch competitor prices and keep ours in line." Click Create the agent.
  4. Access. Choose what the agent may work with, then click Give them this access. You can also click Later and set it on the agent's Data row in Connections.
The first step of New agent: the agent's face, color, name and the instance it runs on

The agent's page opens, and the agent joins Your team on Home.

Where should my first agent run?

The first time, AgentOS asks Where should it run?

  • Boost.space cloud. Boost.space runs the instance in the EU and keeps it updated. Click Start it. The instance is ready in about two minutes, and you fill in the agent meanwhile.
  • Your own server. For teams that want agents on their own infrastructure. Chat with us and we set it up with you.

Every later agent can join an instance you already have, or a new one.

What should I write as the agent's job?

Write it the way you would brief a new colleague. The text becomes the agent's instructions.

  • The role. "You keep our product catalog accurate."
  • The goal. "Every product has a description, a category and a price."
  • The boundaries. "Never change prices without asking me."
  • The way to report. "Send me a short summary every Friday."

You can read the instructions later on the agent's Knows tile.

What can a new agent touch?

Nothing, until you allow it. Every module starts at No access.

Access The agent can
No access Not see the module at all.
Read Read the module's records.
Read & write Read, create and change the module's records.

Automations is either No access or Allowed. With Allowed, the agent can build and run ACT automations. Its own scheduled jobs need no setting. See ACT automations.

How many agents can I have?

Your plan sets how many agents and instances your workspace has. One instance holds up to 50 agents.

What do the messages during setup mean?

  • <name> is already here, doing <role>. Pick another name.
  • An agent named … already exists. Pick another name.
  • This instance has no room for another agent. Choose another instance in Runs on.
  • This instance is not ready for agents yet. Wait a minute and click Create the agent again.

Next: open Your agent's page, or give the agent its first task in Chat.
